Indo-Pacific allies seek to curb China’s influence in the region

Bilateral relations between India and France are in focus during French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian’s three day visit to India.

On Tuesday he met Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar. Both sides are keen to expand co-operation in what’s become known as the Indo-Pacific Region.

Co-operation in the maritime domain is an essential part of the relationship as was evident in the recently concluded naval exercise La Perouse, which saw French and Indian naval vessels on manouvers with those from other nations.
