Sudan’s coup leader says army will step back to make way for a civilian government

Sudan’s army chief, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, announced that the army will be making way for a civilian government. The army seized power in a coup in late 2021, which sparked waves of protests and repression that resulted in the deaths of at least 114 people.
