China will be ‘more aggressive’ under Xi

China will become “more provocative and more aggressive” after Xi Jinping secured a third term, says the Australian Strategic Policy Institute’s Malcolm Davis.

“Beijing only has to look in the mirror as to who to blame for growing concerns across the Indo-Pacific about China’s behaviour,” he said.

“They are the ones that have created the mistrust and the concerns about China’s intentions.

“The AUKUS agreement would not have happened if China hadn’t been engaged in aggressive, expansionist policies in the South China Sea.”
