Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Monday night a pause on his government’s controversial reforms to overhaul the judiciary. This comes against the backdrop of a weeks-long political crisis which crippled the country. On Monday, universities shut down, and airport workers and big companies stopped working to protest the overhaul, which they see as harming democracy.
