Singapore’s local food production fell last year, with dips in hen shell eggs, seafood and vegetable output. This, despite national targets to produce 30% of the country’s nutritional needs by 2030. The biggest dip was in vegetable output, which fell by 15%. Farmers blamed the fall on the limited demand for local produce. The Singapore Food Agency is looking to increase the number of local farms to help ramp up production. This will see more land tenders launched, starting in the later half of this year, to support a wider range of food types.
